Ohio Holstein begins a busy new year

The Ohio Holstein Association officers, executive committee, and board of directors met December 6, 2016 at the office in Wooster to review the 2016 activities and make plans for 2017. The meeting was called to order by President Randall Kiko.

WOOSTER -- The Triway FFA had another educational and fun trip to the National FFA Convention this year. During their travels, the stopped at an aquaponics farm, Fresh Harvest Farm. Aquaponics is the combination of aquaculture, raising fish and hydroponics, the soil-less growing of plants.

Wayne dairy farm manure storage survey

The Wayne County Extension office in partnership with the Wayne County Farm Bureau, Wayne County SWCD and NRCS, the Wayne County Ag Success Team and the Wayne-Ashland Dairy Service Unit, will be conducting a survey of Wayne County dairy farms to determine the current manure storage capacity on farms.

I have had some questions about private pesticide license recertification meetings. OSU Extension Wayne and Holmes Counties will again be collaborating to provide private applicator pesticide recertification and fertilizer certification in 2017.
