SHREVE -- Robert P. Moorhead, 71, of Shreve, passed away Sunday, July 9, 2017, at West View Manor Nursing Home, Wooster, after a period of declining health.
He was born Oct. 15, 1945 in Wooster to John Paul and Miriam Esther (Lehr) Moorhead, and was a 1963 graduate of Triway High School, the first class to graduate from the new high school. Bob honorably served his country in the Army National Guard.
Robert was owner/operator of G & O Spray service for a number of years and then with his sons was owner/operator of Rent-A-Tent Table & Chairs for 31 years, retiring in 2010. His sons continue the business today. Robert loved the business, because he loved working every day with his sons. His family was his life.
He was a faithful member of Shreve United Methodist Church, and enjoyed farming his entire life. He enjoyed retaining the status as the steinstossen champion at the Ohio Swiss Festival for 15-16 years, before his record was broken. Bob was also a black belt in the martial arts, something unique that a lot of people might not know about Bob. He would start his work day by having breakfast with the guys at the "Breakfast Club"
Surviving are sons, Tim (Kelly) Moorhead of Wooster and Ty (Mallory) Moorhead of Shreve; and a granddaughter, Madalyn Moorhead.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marjean Ditmars; a brother, John Maynard Moorhead; and an infant sister, Marylin.
Funeral services are Saturday, July 15, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Shreve United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Michael Grant officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, where military honors will be observed.
Friends called Friday, July 14, 2017, from 5-8 p.m. at the church. Schlabach Funeral Home, Shreve, assisted the family. Online condolences may be shared with the family at schlabachfh.com.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Shreve United Methodist Church or LifeCare Hospice.
