MILLERSBURG -- Alice A. Towner Mellor of Millersburg passed away at her home peacefully, surrounded by her family on Friday, June 16, 2017.
She was born Aug. 31, 1924 in Blissfield to Lawrence Gindelsburger and Velma Adams. On July 6, 1939, she married Edgar Mellor in Greenup, Kentucky. He preceeded her in death Jan. 6, 1996.
Alice was a homemaker and while raising her family took on lots of washing and ironing jobs for members of the community. After her four boys were grown, she went to work at Castle Nursing Home in Millersburg as a cook. She had a great love for glass and collected many different antiques. There were lots of great memories made at her house by not only her children, but her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Alice was known for her Million Dollar Fudge and her ability to put on an amazing Christmas feast. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Alice is survived by her sons, David E. Mellor, Byron (Linda) Mellor, Stephen (Dolletta) Mellor, all of Killbuck, and Keith B. Mellor of Zanesville; grandchildren, Pam (Todd) Quellhorst of Lima, Becky (Todd) Bridenthal of Nashville, Bret (Faye) Mellor of Coshocton, Brian (Amy) Mellor of Millersburg, Adam (Lori) Mellor of Kentucky, David (Arlyn) of Johnston; great-grandchildren, Audrey and Nathan Binkley, Trenton, Brendon, Ryan, Koen Bridenthal, Brett, Brittani, Brooke Mellor, Megan and Morgan Mellor, Samantha Mellor, Ava Mellor; great-great-grandchildren, Oaklyn and Jett
She is also survived by her siblings, Annabell Vansickle, Dorothy Carpenter and Paul Towner, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Owen and Marvin Towner, and an infant brother.
Funeral services were be held Monday, June 19, at 1 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg. Calling hours were 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
