DOVER -- Keith A. Travis, 64, of Dover died Sunday, April 30, 2017, at Union Hospital after an apparent heart attack.
He was born Feb. 15, 1953, in Dover to Lloyd and Carrie (Mutschelknaus) Travis. He owned/operated Keith's Shoe & Saddle Repair in Sugarcreek and was a highly skilled saddle maker and leather craftsman.
He enjoyed showing mules, training and showing horses and team roping. He owned race horses, enjoyed rodeos and all outdoor activities.
He was a member of First United Church of Christ, Sugarcreek, and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, the former Christine Harmon, whom he married July 18, 1970; his sons, Casey (Lindsay) Travis of Sugarcreek and Craig (Sarah) Travis of Alexandria; grandchildren, Abigail, Ian and Ava Travis and Carter and Lauren Travis; sisters, Nancy (Tom) McQueen of New Philadelphia, Norma Jean Shutt of Sugarcreek and Carol (Tom) Dannis of Westerville; several nieces and nephews; and Lily, his dog.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Dave Shutt; and his in-laws, Norman and Opal Harmon and Mildred Warstler.
Services were Thursday, May 4, 2017, at 11 a.m. at First United Church of Christ in Sugarcreek, with pastor Sharman Hartson officiating. Burial was in East Lawn Cemetery, Sugarcreek. Friends called Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at Smith-Varns Funeral Home, Sugarcreek.
