Holmesville Friends of the Library
Holmesville/Prairie Township Friends of the Library Board met Feb. 13 with six members present. Jan Lemon announced that Forest Chaney, Civil War expert, will do three presentations on "Was Your Ancestor There?" This will be a discussion of Civil War military members from Holmesville. He will follow these soldiers through their Civil War service and experiences. Surnames include Ray, Lowe, Chapman, Hadley, Snider, Crawford, Hites, Kendall, Wood(s), Moreland and Painter.The Community Night programs will be given at 6:30 p.m. March 15, 22 and 29. All are welcome to attend.
The new bookshelves have been installed. Several people came in for a work night last week, and rearranged books on many shelves.
Cost estimates for options of entry door renovations were given and discussed. There will be firm prices to consider after quotes for the doors, and renovations, have been received, hopefully by the March meeting. It was decided to have Jacob Shetler come to the March meeting to discuss the options for changes to the entry door.
A Wish List of needed improvements had been drawn up some time ago and some of the suggestions have been accomplished.
Sue Shafer has offered to do the Healthy Eating program on the first and third Thursdays from mid-September through December, from 10:15-11 a.m., as she did last year. She would like to apply for a grant to help fund the program. It was agreed by consensus to continue the program, as it was a big success with the children last year.
