East Holmes School District
For the second year the Hiland FFA Chapter took part in the Paint-A-Plow contest. The Ohio Department of Agriculture had a theme of heroes and hashtags. Members who participated were: Kortney Schlabach, Hayleigh Scheufler, Sheila Troyer, Tallie Troyer, Ben Winterbourne, Cheryl Yoder and Diane Yoder.
On a cool day in November the Hiland FFA Chapter went to Columbus for the Ohio State University hockey game and heard a guest speaker. The woman who started the discussion began by saying what OSU was about and what the college offers to high school students.
At the Hiland chapter's annual FFA meeting at Hiland High School, guest speaker, Morgan Troyer, talked about the trip she went on to England, Ireland and Wales during the summer. During business, members voted on having a chapter newsletter, a chapter T-shirt design and taking part in ringing for the Salvation Army.
Every year, chapter participates in the Trapshoot Contest with this year's event in Columbus. Team One placed 11th and Team Two, 12th.
The Hiland FFA Chapter sent Sarah Rose Farquhar to Subdistrict Job Interview at Buckeye Career Center. She placed first, and at District Job Interview placed second.
Every year, Hiland FFA participates in community service projects. The first community project of the school year was Thank-A-Farmer, which involved providing a lunch. Another community service the Hiland FFA Chapter participates in is Act of Kindness. During the fall, and spring, members go to businesses and clean their windows. Thus far, members have cleaned 116 windows in Berlin. Also in the fall, members rake leaves for people who don't have time to get it done, or for people who can't rake their leaves.
West Holmes School District
The West Holmes FFA chapter sent 10 members to the District 8 trap shooting competition at the Jefferson County Sportsmen's Club.
Team 1 consisted of Braiden Bower, Dylan Landon, Ethan Reining, Jeffery Giauque and Lucas Shaum. Team 2 consisted of Jake Donaldson, Brevon Barns, Tyler Lyons and Jarrett Snow. Team two placed eighth and Team 1 placed 16th.
