The 97th Convention and Annual Meeting of the Ohio Holstein Association will be March 10-11, 2017, and will be hosted by the District 7 Holstein Club.
Activities will begin with the Ohio Holstein Convention Sale on Friday, March 10, at 11 a.m. at the Holmes County Fairgrounds, 8882 state Route 39, Millersburg. The sale will feature approximately 70 consignments from Holstein breeders from Ohio and out of state. There will be Black and Whites and Red and Whites of all ages.
There are high genomic consignments with GTPI scores of +2700 to +2795 from well-known breeders and herds. Sires include Jedi and Gatedancer. There are show-age calves and heifers, including a Doorman daughter with 17 generations of Excellent dams behind her, a Diamondback calf that goes back to Lavender Ruby Redrose, and many more from outstanding pedigrees and sired by the top sires of the breed. There are bred heifers due soon and young cows in milk.

Following the sale there will be farm tours, including Springhill Farms, the Lang Family located at 7109 state Route 514, Big Prairie; Gate-Way Holsteins, the Huntsberger's, 11360 County Road 1, Shreve; and Ron Grosjean Farm and Museum, 2459 Columbus Road, Wooster. Judging contests will take place at the first two stops, sponsored by COBA/Select Sires.
The District 7 Holstein Club Celebration Dinner will be at the office of the Ohio Holstein Association, 1375 Heyl Road, Wooster from 5 to 7 p.m. (You may come and go as you please.) A social gathering will be held at 9 p.m. at Muddy Waters Caf and Grill, 335 E. Liberty St., Wooster.
The Annual Meeting activities on Saturday, March 11, will be at the Shisler Conference, Center, 1680 Madison Avenue, Wooster, located across the street from the Hilton Garden Inn, on the back of Fisher Auditorium. The day will begin at 7 a.m. with a light continental breakfast including the dairy bar. At 8 a.m. will be the Ohio Holstein Women's Association meeting, Memorial Award interviews and Outstanding Junior interviews. The Resolutions Committee will also meet at 8. At 9 a.m., the Junior National Convention Work Session will be held. The Ohio Holstein Association Annual Meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. Ohio Queen Contest Interviews will be held at 10 a.m. The Ohio Junior Association Annual Meeting will be at 10:30 a.m. The Awards Luncheon is at noon to be followed by the Ohio Holstein Queen Contest Finale and the Ohio Holstein Women's Fun Auction. The Ohio Holstein Board of Directors Reorganizational Meeting will be at 3 p.m.
Cost for the all-you-can-eat buffet luncheon is $20 per person. Children age 3 and younger eat free. The menu includes salad, chicken, beef, potato, vegetable medley, penne pasta with homemade red sauce, roll and butter and cookie. Reservations are due Feb. 24, 2017.
