West Holmes FFA in District Evaluation

The West Holmes FFA had several members who competed in District Evaluation this winter. The evaluation process allows members to highlight their Supervised Agricultural Experience areas and apply for proficiency awards and State and American Degrees.

Pre-District Evaluation was held on Jan, 29 at South Central High School and Regional Evaluation was held on Feb. 5 at Certified Angus Beef. West Holmes FFA members were named district finalists in proficiency areas; Michael Klein in Grain Placement, Elise Neville in Nursery Operations, Gabe Armstrong in Forage Production, Jillian Gurley in Small Animal, Erik Hanna in Diversified Ag, Justin Lorentz in Diversified Horticulture, William Hughes in Dairy Entrepreneurship, Jason Jenkins in Turfgrass Placement, Carter Smith in Beef Entrepreneurship, Chris VanSickle in Diversified Livestock.

 

FFA members apply for state awards

In addition, William Hughes applied for State Star Farmer in Dairy Entrepreneurship, as well as Jason Jenkins in Turfgrass Placement.

West Holmes FFA had seven total State Degree applicants: Mathew Gardner, Erik Hanna, Michael Klein, Regina Miller, Hannah Schlegel, Becca Vales and Chris VanSickle. The FFA also had four American Degree applicants: Chris Sprang, Elise Neville, Shyann Kick and Morgan Hoxworth. All of the applications advanced from the Regional Evaluation to the State Evaluation Feb. 27-28.
