West Holmes notes kindergarten registration

Kindergarten registration for children entering school in August will begin Feb. 1 in the West Holmes District. Children must be 5 years of age on or before Aug. 1. Call to register the child at the elementary school they will attend by April 8.

Parents will be asked some basic information about the child and will schedule a time for kindergarten screening. A registration packet will be mailed in April to be completed and taken to screening later in April. Take a copy of the child's birth certificate and proof of residency.

Screen dates are: April 11, Millersburg, 330-674-5681; April 12, Millersburg (morning only); April 14, Killbuck, 330-276-2891; April 15, Clark (morning only), 330-674-7936; and April 19, Nashville, 330-378-2111.

The following Ashland County-West Holmes Career Center students achieved Perfect Attendance for the first semester of the 2015-2016 school year.

Sophomore -- Carl McCartney (Loudonville);

Juniors -- Brandon Boughman (West Holmes), Brooke Dawson (West Holmes), Kayla Malachin (West Holmes), Jesse Stouffer (Loudonville);

Seniors -- Doyle Burgett (West Holmes), Michael Cheuvront (Loudonville), Trisha Ganfield (Loudonville).

Ashland-W. Holmes Career Center

Aaron Rennie, West Holmes High School, and Keaton Morehead, Ashland High School, were named Career Center Students of the Month for January.

Rennie, in the Career Center's Engineering & Design Technology program, was named the junior Student of the Month. He is the son of Jeff and Elaine Rennie and resides in Glenmont.

Morehead, in the Career Center's Construction Technology program, was named the senior Student of the Month. He is the son of Tom and Beckie Morehead and resides in Ashland.

Both students will be presented with a certificate and pin in recognition of the honor.
